What an AI SEO check reveals that traditional SEO tools miss
The biggest gap between a traditional SEO checker and an AI SEO checker isn't the data — it's the interpretation. Traditional tools are good at catching technical issues (a missing meta description, a broken canonical, a slow image). They're bad at catching strategic issues that quietly cap your ranking ceiling. Our AI SEO checker catches both. Here are five strategic issues an AI audit surfaces that a traditional checker won't.
1. Search-intent mismatch
Your page targets “best CRM software” but is actually written as a product page for one CRM. Google wants to show comparison/listicle content for that query. Until you restructure the page (or pick a different target keyword), no amount of on-page tweaking will move it. A traditional SEO checker won't flag this; an AI SEO checker reads the content + the SERP and tells you immediately.
2. Title tag vs H1 vs intent triangulation
Your title tag, your H1, and the actual keyword you're targeting should reinforce each other. When they drift apart — say, your title is keyword-stuffed but your H1 is human-friendly — Google has trouble figuring out what to rank you for. An AI SEO checker compares all three and tells you which to fix first. A traditional checker just confirms each tag is present.
3. Topical authority gaps
Your page on “Mediterranean diet meal plans” ranks at position 14. The pages ranking 1–10 all link to a deeper page about Mediterranean diet pantry staples. You don't have that page. The AI SEO checker reads the SERP, sees the pattern, and recommends building the supporting page. Traditional checkers don't read the SERP at all.
4. AI-content patterns
Google has been demoting unedited AI-generated content since the August 2022 Helpful Content Update. Traditional SEO tools don't check for this — they evaluate the structure, not the writing. Our AI SEO checker reads your prose and flags patterns common in AI output (uniform paragraph length, generic sentence openers, lists of synonyms, “in conclusion” closings). If you're using AI to draft, the audit tells you exactly what to humanise before publishing.
5. Anchor-text saturation
Half your inbound backlinks use the exact-match anchor “buy backlinks”. That's a footprint Google's spam classifier looks for. Traditional checkers show you the anchor distribution but rarely interpret it. Our AI SEO checker reads the distribution, flags the saturation, and suggests which anchors to target on the next 10–20 backlinks to dilute the pattern.
How the AI SEO checker actually works under the hood
Three systems work together in roughly 8–12 seconds:
- Real-time page fetch. The tool requests your URL the same way Googlebot does — anonymous, no cookies, mobile user-agent. Cheerio parses the HTML server-side to extract every relevant on-page element. This step takes 1–2 seconds.
- SEO data API. In parallel, we call DataForSEO for your domain's backlink profile, referring-domain count, top anchor texts, and current SERP position for the inferred target keyword. This pulls real, live data — no estimates. 2–4 seconds.
- Claude AI synthesis. The structured output of step 1 + step 2 gets sent to Claude with a purpose-built SEO-audit prompt. Claude reads everything and produces the prioritized recommendations. 4–6 seconds.
The result is rendered immediately in the browser — no email-and-wait flow, no overnight reports, no “we'll send your audit in 24 hours”. The audit is ready before you've finished reading this section.
Who an AI SEO checker is for
Different roles use the tool differently. Here's how it fits into common workflows:
- SEO agencies — drop a prospect's URL into the tool during a sales call, walk them through the report live. Beats sending a 30-page PDF audit two weeks later.
- Content marketers — run a draft URL through the tool before publishing. Catches title/H1 mismatches, missing schema, thin internal linking. Two minutes of pre-publish work that ships you a meaningfully better page.
- SaaS founders — audit your own homepage, pricing page, and top 3 blog posts every quarter. Not a replacement for a real SEO consultant — but enough to know whether you're leaving easy ranking on the table.
- Affiliate marketers — audit the publisher's page before placing a backlink. Confirms the page is healthy and the backlink will actually pass equity.
- Site owners without an SEO specialist — get a second opinion on whether the agency you hired is actually fixing the right things, or just billing hours.
What the AI SEO checker won't do
Honesty matters. Here's what the tool isn't designed for:
- Site-wide crawls. The tool audits one URL at a time. For a full 10,000-page site crawl, use Screaming Frog or Sitebulb (paid).
- Rank tracking over time. The audit is a snapshot. For daily rank tracking across hundreds of keywords, use Ahrefs / Semrush.
- Competitor backlink scraping. We pull backlink data for the URL you submit, not for an entire competitor analysis. For deep competitor backlink work, Ahrefs is the gold standard.
- White-label reports. The audit is for your own use, not for resale to clients with a custom logo. (We may add this in a paid tier later.)
- Predicting exact rankings. No tool can do this honestly. We tell you what to fix, in what order, and why — not “you'll be at position #3 in 30 days”. That kind of promise is a red flag from any SEO tool.
