Why we're building free SEO tools
The SEO tool market is dominated by paid platforms — Ahrefs, Semrush, Moz, Surfer SEO. They're excellent products, but each costs $99–$449 per month, and most of what they offer is overkill for the day-to-day question SEOs actually ask: “is this URL set up to rank, and if not, what do I fix first?”
That single-URL question deserves a free, instant answer. So we're building one — and the eleven other tools that solve adjacent single-question problems. Free, no signup, no credit-card-on-file. We make money on the backlinks marketplace; the tools are the on-ramp.
What separates these tools from generic “AI SEO” tools
The phrase “AI SEO” has been used to slap a chatbot interface onto generic SEO advice and call it a tool. We don't do that. Every tool here is built on the same architecture:
- Real-time data fetch — the tool actually crawls your URL, queries SEO data APIs, and pulls live metrics. No guessing from the URL pattern.
- Real SEO database — backlink, ranking, and domain metrics come from DataForSEO, an enterprise data provider with coverage comparable to Ahrefs.
- Claude AI synthesis — instead of returning a 200-row spreadsheet for you to interpret, Claude AI reads the data and produces a prioritized, plain-English report. This is the differentiator — the AI layer turns checklist output into action items.
The roadmap — one tool per week
We're shipping one new free SEO tool per week through 2026. The first eight are listed above; more get added as we identify high-value single-question problems that don't already have a great free solution. If there's a tool you wish existed, tell us and we'll prioritize it on the roadmap.
How to use these tools in your workflow
Different roles use these tools differently:
- SEO agencies use the tools during prospect calls to demonstrate competence and surface quick wins on the prospect's site live.
- Content marketers use the AI SEO Checker before publishing — catches title/H1 mismatches, missing schema, and search-intent drift before the page goes live.
- SaaS founders use the Domain Authority Checker and Backlink Checker to track competitor growth without paying for an Ahrefs subscription.
- Affiliate marketers use the SERP Checker and Keyword Difficulty Checker to validate ranking opportunity before writing.
- In-house SEO teams use the tools as a fast second opinion when their primary platform surfaces an ambiguous result.
What you won't find here
We're honest about what these tools are and aren't. They're fast, single-question utilities. For these workflows, you still want a paid platform:
- Site-wide crawls across thousands of pages — use Screaming Frog or Sitebulb.
- Daily rank tracking across hundreds of keywords — use Ahrefs or Semrush.
- Deep competitor backlink analysis — Ahrefs is the gold standard.
- Multi-user team dashboards with role-based permissions — use Semrush or Conductor.
Our tools are best for the “I have one URL and 30 seconds” moment — which, for most SEOs, happens 10+ times a day.
